Puddle of Mudd - She Hates Me yes again it feels kinda wrong to call a song thats about 7 years old retro, but hey its a loooooooooong time ago, yes of course it had its time way back when probably will go down as their biggest hit (this or Blurry) but hey I don't mind it, just over it ***
Offspring - Kids Aren't Alright again I've said one of my favourite Offspring songs of all time and not as overplayed as the other stuff ****
Hoobastank - Crawling In The Dark y'know theres gonna be 00s at noon shows soon rather than the 90s at noon staple even though to me it still seems wrong to say songs from then are retro but I kinda agree with the 5 year rule some shows have, anyways onto the song, it was their first single and it holds up massively shame they didn't go onto bigger things just a couple of slow songs that got well overplayed (Running Away & The Reason) but as I said I still like this song alot ****

Jason Mraz - I'm Yours (remix????) its got someone else on it, don't know who, and they've taken Jason out of it except for the chorus, so I don't know, I remember way back in the day when he had the song "The Remedy" which wasn't bad at all, and the original of this is fine, but this version kills it **1/2 looking it up looks to be Lil Wayne heh
talking to "Fergies Mom" about Fergies stake in the Miami Dolphins
Shakira, see her videos at y100.com
ads
I Believe as a web filler - Christina Aguilera - Come on Over of course blah ** but I actually haven't heard it for years
Ryans Back with Another Song this is Y100
Beyonce - Sweet Dreams alright ***
Shakira - She Wolf (or Loba in Spanish heh, considering Lobo is course dog) holy 70s disco haha, but kinda cool ***
Panic! At The Disco - I Write Sins not Tragedies of course a damn good song (although you can't say Goddamn in America which I never get, but I spose there a lot more religious folks there) ****
Taylor Swift - You Belong with Me again more pop-country, pretty terrible **
Justin - What Comes Around\ blah **
ads
Filler: Avril - Girlfriend ARGH!!!, of course a kinda remake of the ol' "Hey Mickey" of course cheesy as hell *
more ads
Y100 all the hits
Pitbull - Hotel Room Service average **1/2 |

| X-Fest 2k9 - The X Dayton Ohio 12/10/09 |
[Oct. 12th, 2009|04:01 pm] |
Inspired by this blog post saying that this is the worst of Clear Channel "Alternative" Stations because it plays far to much "Active Rock" but we'll see if its really that bad (although my tastes of course vary from the guy who does that blog but hey) but that blog has kind of inspired me do do a sort of "VS" Rant seeing which stations are better also its sad to think that KRAB is in there as the worst (but hey I only really listened to their retro show, they do play some cool stuff I haven't heard elsewhere though
might as well make it 1458 - 1558 12/10/09 WXEG Dayton Ohio
Mudvayne - Happy? of course it's definatly active rock, but they used to get alt play back in the day, because hey they are still damn good and what they do (What they do what they did to.... too far?) ****
New Rock 103.9 Now the X
Breaking Benjamin - I Will Not Bow again an awesome song and ok they got big when they released a song that sounded a bit like SOADs "Spiders" in "So Cold" (Although they had an album out before that) they got Alt play when they started way back with "Polyamourus" which was a catchy as hell song ****
ads
and speaking of SOAD - Lonely Day (I think its a web filler) Ahh the rare mellow side of em (although yes I mentioned just "Spiders") but still an awesome song **** Alternative? I can let them pass
more hot women are using us for our website because wxeg.com is free and frisky (heh)
P.O.D - Youth Of The Nation all good ****
10 Years - So Long, Good Bye it's the proper album version here which is just acoustic, they did a version which did add strings and such, but hey its cool both of their albums are great yes their very Tool influenced nothing wrong with that ****
we're 103.9 The X and we go through a lot of girl scout cookies I gotta tell ya (????)
NIN - The Hand That Feeds of course its awesomeness, and hey you can't say Nine Inch Nails aren't alternative haha
Staind - Mudshovel still probably one of their best songs from way back when, its' all good ****
Linkin Park - Lying From You again one of my faves of theirs ****
AIC - Check My Brain yes their back!! need the album of course its actually hard to believe they have a new singer since it sounds like they never left also just got Jerry Cantrells "Boggy Depot" album, very good stuff *****
ads
Slipknot - Wait & Bleed (Web filler I think) of course an awesome song ****
STP - Dead & Bloated all good ****
Seether - Careless Whisper Yes folks, Seether cover Wham/George Michael, but hey it makes the song a million times better unfortunatly not on their latest album tho and I do have to consider it a "Joke" song at times because its still just as cheesy as the original but its good enough ***1/2
Limp Bizkit - Behind Blue Eyes umm WHY? although it seems to be their only song played nowadays (I do hear "Break Stuff" A bit as well actually) of course you can't beat the orignal but this is still alright ***
Anberlin - Feel Good Drag and still an awesome song ****
Eve 6 - Think Twice!!!! WOW! not "Inside Out" so long since I've heard this song and its as awesome as I remember it ****
As for the station not being "Alternative" I can agree, "Modern Rock" should be the correct term, but the last two tracks are more in line with "Alternative" while the rest could be on any "Active Rock" station, it doesn't play any of the old tracks an "Active" Station would play though (70s/80s stuff) |

|
| Channel 92.3 San Jose |
[Oct. 8th, 2009|04:59 pm] |
Ok folks, long time no rant for this station, a proper "Alternative" station I guess you could say, KCNL channel 92.3 (formerly 104.9) 0900-1000 US Time, 1600-1700 UK 08/10/09
Violent Femmes - Blister in The Sun ahh an 80s track of course, still awesome though ****
Music, No Interruptions nonstop channel 92.3
Matisyahu - One Day ahh remember him? kinda cool reggae sound, and yeah a good song ****
Nonstop Channel 92.3
Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart and awesome *****
STP - Plush (Acoustic) always nice to hear the acoustic version, still an awesome song ****
Passion Pit - The Reeling wow, talk about your 80s synths, throwback of course but a cool little song ****
R.E.M - Losing My Religion of course a classic ****
Kings of Leon - Notion still all good ****
Better Than Ezra - Desperatly Wanting WOW! of course I have heard "Good" every so often but I haven't heard this for years, and of course this is the song they got big with ****
and speaking of a "Holy Crap" song for an alt station to play, INXS - Suicide Blonde WOW! I haven't heard this one FOREVER awesome old school song **** only INXS I've heard recently has been "Need You Tonight"
Green Day - Holiday it lives on, still a good song though, but yes pretty overplayed ***1/2
Beck - Devils Haircut at least its not "loser" again ****
Third Eye Blind - Can You take Me yes thier still around and a very cool song, hadn't heard it before, the only one I'd heard was non-dairy Creamer
RHCP - Knock Me Down yes old school RHCP way before Bloodsugarsexmagic very rare to hear ****

| Part 2, The Rock |
[Oct. 5th, 2009|05:00 pm] |
Part two of the double shot, it's Time For The Rock 1600-1700 (05/10/09) UK and 0400-0500 NZ 06/10/09 )
Green day, GNR, Shihad hey look more Jet - Are You Gonna Be My Girl would've thought it would be She's a genius but thankfully for me it's not haha
And again in Comparison with the Edge, RHCP - Californication oddly the mellower song from the album, but from the same album still a very good song though ****
126/5 in the cricket, 15 overs to go, Outrageous Fortune final is on tonight (I Need the DVDs of off all the earlier seasons if anyone can hook me up haha)
Muse - Uprising yes I don't mind if I heard it an hour ago, its an awesome song (plus I tuned in during the Middle of it On The Edge so there)
Nickelback - Something In Your Mouth cheesy as hell yes, but still good ***½
TOOOOOL - Ænima I have to give it ***** plus yay its uncensored
average at the cricket, 134 now, Airbourne CDs given away to a PROUD Australian watching the Cricket, Jeremy didn't even know their from Melbourne, although the caller gets the singers name wrong, he saw em Live in a pub in Hamilton with only about 50 ppl
Wolfmother - New Moon Rising hey an Aussie Band, and no its clearly not to tie in with the new Twilight movie... or is it? (actually on that not I haven't heard the song, but it looks like Death Cab For cutie have the lead single for this one, Whats with that?) ****
151/5 with 10 overs left
Final Destination (or THE final Destination) (they did the opposite of what the 4th Fast & Furious did and ADDED the to the title heh) ads
Audioslave - Cochise ahh an awesome song, I Still remember way back when it came out, still rules ****½
Pearl Jam - Fixer yes another repeat from The Edge, but I can live with it because hey its Pearl Jam
The Rock, Rog was fired from What Now in 1993, and used Ricky Morris's Cv to get the job @ The Rock ("So Rog you were a host of 3:45 Live" Rog: "Yes thats right, me and Fenella") I barely remember 3:45 Live as a kid haha What Now of course is still going, but last I saw it had lost it, (of course that might just me not being a kid anymore haha)
Whitesnake - Here I go Again Its odd theres two versions of this song, one that rocks all along, and then the other slow version which is actually the one I'm used to but they have the ealier version, still its alright chessy as hell of course ***½
NZ WERE doing better, but, it should'nt have happend, run out, then another wicket, 173/7 and now a feature that I'm liking at this time, "Live By Five" (a live track just before 5am)
And funnily enough it is Live - Lightning Crashes (Acoustic) nice to hear another version of this song at least ***½
Disturbed - Inside The Fire of course an awesome song ****
New Music on The Rock, I Am Giant - City Limits (an NZ band thats actually in the UK who I might go and see) Wolfmother - New Moon Rising and...
Midnight Youth - Cavalry I Love this song at the moment! ****½ altough I can't get the CD as it doesn't have an Amazon listing. I looked at fishpond.co.nz but it would cost $25 in SHIPPING! on a $30 CD heh (worked out to be about £25 which of course is too much for a CD, considering I got the Luger Boa CD for under a fiver and it's on the same label (although it could be that I got the since I got an Australian version of the Luger Boa CD (don't know if there are seperate NZ and AU ones) so maybe the Midnight Youth one isn't out in AU yet) |

BEP - I Gotta A Feeling average ***
Fletch and Vaughan Promo (loving their podcasts, it is like the best of the show since unfortunatly I can't listen to the show since hey its overnight here plus I don't actually have a home computer at the moment so wouldn't be able to listen to it anyways (although The Edge do now have a iPhone app I see, so who knows, I might get an iPhone one of these days) although it would be cool if the podcasts were the entire show w/out ads and music but I guess its not really possible
Gossip - Heavy Cross kinda new wave 80s but still not bad really ***1/2

Ke$ha - Tik Tok white girl rap is a rare thing but hey its not too bad, kinda a GaGa knockoff though in a way but still not too bad *** (Plus hey it saved us from hearing the ol' Macarena on The Madhouse last week)

And that it for The Edge coming up in an hour a Rock rant |

Van Halen - Hot For Teacher ahh the 80s, (even if I was only 6 years old when it ended, and when this album came out I was only 1 year old haha) but yes alright song, it is kind of annoying. one of my least fave VH songs *** plus not that rare of a song either.
Cinderella - Shake Me What is it with this band this week? the cheesy 80s music is following me but at least this is slightly rockier, still what kinda of rock band name is Cinderella????? haha **

Type O Negative - Cinnamon Girl Ahh a nice bit of goth metal always livens up the party ****

GNR - Don't Cry alright, nothing too special ***
Suicidal Tendencies - Institutionalized this does get played quite often on this show, but it is so freaking awesome ***** and yes its back to something REALLY GOOD from the 80s haha
