Motley Crue - Dr Feelgood
ahh classic, Cheesy yes, but hey it was the 80s ****

Creed - Overcome
yes their back, don't be ashamed you liked em back in the day, it was funny reading the second ever rant from June 2000 (yes it was that long ago) and I did consider "With Arms Wide Open" the best song out at the time, just my opinion but hey (I considered Shihads Pacifier "boring" at the time, I've seen the error of my ways, and yes I would now say that was the best song on that haha) But I do like this enough, sure its pretty generic though ***1/2

ads

White Zombie - More Human Than Human
of course an Awesome Song ****

Ted Nugent - Stranglehold
Wow! here, 70s cheese but pretty awesome, quite epic as well ****

Stroke 9 - Little Black Backpack
heres a kinda "Oh Wow" from way back in the day, and I liked it tons back then, also gotta love the "Kick Some Ass" Video from "Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back" it did actually get on the pop top 40 back in the day too if I remember ***1/2

Puddle of Mudd - She Hates Me
yes again it feels kinda wrong to call a song thats about 7 years old retro, but hey its a loooooooooong time ago, yes of course it had its time way back when probably will go down as their biggest hit (this or Blurry) but hey I don't mind it, just over it ***

Offspring - Kids Aren't Alright
again I've said one of my favourite Offspring songs of all time and not as overplayed as the other stuff ****

Hoobastank - Crawling In The Dark
y'know theres gonna be 00s at noon shows soon rather than the 90s at noon staple even though to me it still seems wrong to say songs from then are retro but I kinda agree with the 5 year rule some shows have, anyways onto the song, it was their first single and it holds up massively shame they didn't go onto bigger things just a couple of slow songs that got well overplayed (Running Away & The Reason) but as I said I still like this song alot ****

ads

Bush - Everything Zen
back to the 90s still good ****

some people call these songs old, we like to call them "Previously New"

Garbage - Only Happy When It Rains
all good ****

Big Audio Dynamite - The Globe
The Clash gone hiphop! of course you can tell its from the early 90s plus its interesting to see an artist borrow from their earlier work only really knew "Rush" for many years (which of course samples The Who's "Baba Oreilly") but hey they've got some other good stuff ****

Everclear - Santa Monica (watch The World Die)
all good ****

from Everclear to Everlast - ENDS!!!
gotta say WOW! for this of course since lets face it, the only track of his that ever gets played is "What It's Like" so its awesome hearing something else plus I ended up liking this song a load more than "What its Like" anyways ****

Random Rant: Y102 WYFR, Reading Pennsylvania
[info]icerantz

Billy Joel - Scenes From An Italian Restaurant
HUH? not really rock at all of course haven't actually heard much of his stuff beside the old "Piano Man" heh, but of course not really my thing *** plus he's from Pennsylvania isn't he? long song though

ads already

GNR - Knocking On Heavens Door
a bit more like it **** probably the best version of this song for sure

Van Halen - Dancing In The Streets
covers day today then? but it actually quite a cool version ***1/2

Lifehouse - You and Me

Cream - Strange Brew
now this is really classic rock of course, pretty good ***1/2

Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band - Her Strut
not heard this, of course his most famous song would be "Turn The Page" which of course was made more famous by Metallica to me

Eddie Money - Baby Hold On
again never heard of it, pretty cheesy slow song **1/2

ads

Time to crank up your radio and listen to more rock hits of WRFY

Hinder - Lips of An Angel
of course its cheesy as hell, but catchy still pretty terrible haha ***

Elton John - I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues
I Think it's the first Elton John song ever covered in the rants (no wait, he had the song w/ the boy group, and he did one with Collective Soul as well didn't he? so maybe not heh) but still not my thing really,

John Mellencamp - Rain On The Scarecrow
wow and another song I've never heard average really ***

never even heard of the artist either for this one, but its alright ***

Jay-Z/Rhianna/Kanye - Run This Town
ahh good ol' Jay-Z, damn good song, kinda like the "New York State Of Mind" Track as well ****

Rascall Flats - What Hurts The Most
ARGH COUNTRY, funny its a remake of the Cascada song though but hey at least their not restricted to just hiphop/urban/dance pop tracks here, **1/2 (y'know I still want to just randomly rant a country station one day even though I don't know very much at all about the format I just want to see whats out there)

And its Ryan Seacrest, DOH!

Lady GaGa - Paparazzi
or as some people might mishear it Pavarotti just waiting for that parody to be made heh, but yes as I've said I don't mind her at all ***

I.Y.A.Z. - Replay
never heard it before, but its kinda more of the reggae/hiphop/R&B hybrid stuff, not bad but not that great either **1/2 but it is catchy as hell

Fergie to be a part owner of the Miami Dolphins

Jason Mraz - I'm Yours (remix????)
its got someone else on it, don't know who, and they've taken Jason out of it except for the chorus, so I don't know, I remember way back in the day when he had the song "The Remedy" which wasn't bad at all, and the original of this is fine, but this version kills it **1/2 looking it up looks to be Lil Wayne heh

talking to "Fergies Mom" about Fergies stake in the Miami Dolphins

Pitbull - Hotel Room Service
average **1/2

X-Fest 2k9 - The X Dayton Ohio 12/10/09
[info]icerantz
Inspired by this blog post saying that this is the worst of Clear Channel "Alternative" Stations because it plays far to much "Active Rock" but we'll see if its really that bad (although my tastes of course vary from the guy who does that blog but hey) but that blog has kind of inspired me do do a sort of "VS" Rant seeing which stations are better also its sad to think that KRAB is in there as the worst (but hey I only really listened to their retro show, they do play some cool stuff I haven't heard elsewhere though

might as well make it 1458 - 1558 12/10/09 WXEG Dayton Ohio

Mudvayne - Happy?
of course it's definatly active rock, but they used to get alt play back in the day, because hey they are still damn good and what they do (What they do what they did to.... too far?) ****

New Rock 103.9 Now the X

Breaking Benjamin - I Will Not Bow
again an awesome song and ok they got big when they released a song that sounded a bit like SOADs "Spiders" in "So Cold" (Although they had an album out before that) they got Alt play when they started way back with "Polyamourus" which was a catchy as hell song ****

ads

and speaking of SOAD - Lonely Day (I think its a web filler)
Ahh the rare mellow side of em (although yes I mentioned just "Spiders") but still an awesome song **** Alternative? I can let them pass

more hot women are using us for our website because wxeg.com is free and frisky (heh)

P.O.D - Youth Of The Nation
all good ****

10 Years - So Long, Good Bye
it's the proper album version here which is just acoustic, they did a version which did add strings and such, but hey its cool both of their albums are great yes their very Tool influenced nothing wrong with that ****

STP - Dead & Bloated
all good ****

Seether - Careless Whisper

Limp Bizkit - Behind Blue Eyes
umm WHY? although it seems to be their only song played nowadays (I do hear "Break Stuff" A bit as well actually) of course you can't beat the orignal but this is still alright ***

Anberlin - Feel Good Drag
and still an awesome song ****

Eve 6 - Think Twice!!!!
WOW! not "Inside Out" so long since I've heard this song and its as awesome as I remember it ****

As for the station not being "Alternative" I can agree, "Modern Rock" should be the correct term, but the last two tracks are more in line with "Alternative" while the rest could be on any "Active Rock" station, it doesn't play any of the old tracks an "Active" Station would play though (70s/80s stuff)

It once was lost, now it's found, KIOZ lost & Found
[info]icerantz
New rant for an old favorite KIOZ's Lost & Found 8pm UK time, 12pm San Diego 01/10/09

Tantric- Breakdown
haven't heard this in a while, damn cool song ****

Slipknot - Psychosocial
well thats not very Lost&Found is it? but this station might play it less than others so hey I don't know. Still a decent song ***1/2

Van Halen - Hot For Teacher
ahh the 80s, (even if I was only 6 years old when it ended, and when this album came out I was only 1 year old haha) but yes alright song, it is kind of annoying. one of my least fave VH songs *** plus not that rare of a song either.

Cinderella - Shake Me
What is it with this band this week? the cheesy 80s music is following me but at least this is slightly rockier, still what kinda of rock band name is Cinderella????? haha **

Type O Negative - Cinnamon Girl
Ahh a nice bit of goth metal always livens up the party ****

Hows that for RANDOM hour haha

Pearl Jam - Even Flow (LIVE in Tampa)
A rare version I suppose, though obviously can be found somewhere, one thing about live version of some songs is that they are actually faster than the album versions which is cool to hear as well

SOAD - Toxicity
still an awesome song of course ****

Soundgarden - My Wave
Just got a copy of "Euphoria Morning" Cornells first solo album, do remember "Can't Change Me" which is still a great song, but anyways this song is still good, plus its a slightly lesser played song of theirs (with obviously "Black Hole Sun" and "Spoonman" being most played) ****

Disturbed - Inside The Fire
still rules ****

Kiss - Rock & Roll All Nite (Live)

Radiohead - Creep
of course the classic song of theirs, although they haven't really had any similar sounding songs ****

Creed - Overcome
I kinda think thier trying to be Shinedown like on this song (which is kinda funny since you could say that Shinedown would've been Influenced by Creed, and thier both from Florida) but yes it is a pretty cool song, although I did like the Alter Bridge stuff, Creed was a Band I did like way back when, but then they started doing the "With Arms Wide Open" type stuff over and over which ended up being rather boring but hey this song is all good though ****

Linkin Park - Lying From You
I STILL love this songs intro, still a damn good song as well ****

kinda funny to hear but the music of Weezers "Hash Pipe" is being used as the backing music of a jingle for a car audio store.

Silversun Pickups - Panic Switch
damn good song ****

Butthole Surfers - Pepper
As I've said before, I Don't know how they got a massive hit with the band name, but still this was a great song back in the day (And I'm pretty sure ZM played it way back then haha) still of course is an awesome song ****

Foo Fighters - Everlong
yes overplayed maybe, but its still a freakin' awesome song ****

Rise Against - Audience of One
still awesome ***** and I did see that The Edge played "Saviour" so yay (because lets face it, While "Hero Of War" which The Rock are playing is a good song, it isn't a good single choice)

so we get a record companies because they want us to play the hit singles and only the hit singles we said *Bleep* that, another deep X Cut

Kings of Leon - Manhattan
good song ****

Finally: RHCP - Otherside
still a good song, but yeah kinda overplayed ***1/2

KBPI's Top 20 of the Top 200 songs Ever Played
[info]icerantz

yes overplayed but still good ****

106.7 Kbpi Rocks the Rockies

BPIs top 200 songs ever played

#18 - Disturbed - Stupify
REALLY???? yes it was voted by listeners like the rock 1000, but above the previous two songs? never! I wouldn't even count them in the same league (Even though I do own all their albums haha) but I admit this is still an awesome song and the song that introduced us to them ****

#17 - Korn - Freak on a Leash
always good to hear this song from back when they good but again, really high for this song compared to what could be there ****

#16 - Marilyn Manson - The Beautiful People
again with the 90s haha, but yes classic ****

You voted at KBPI.com (I didn't) He Just said you did BPI's top 200 songs ever played

#15 - Metallica - Battery
Ahhh yes! probably a bit of metallica still to come (and I'm wondering if the #1 will be the same as The Rocks) but of course an absolutely awesome song ***** plus I love that they actually have an acoustic intro on this song

so far 17 songs for Metallica on the list., Final appearance for Korn and Manson

UFC 103 This saturday night only on Pay Per View
$1 gets you a McDouble Burger at McDonalds

#14 - GNR - Welcome to The Jungle
of course an awesome song and was mentioned that it was the higest appearance for the band in the countdown, interesting to say the least because you'd be sure this would be a top 10 song **** although looking at the Rock 1000 it only made #44 haha with Paradise City and Sweet Child being higher Rating Sweet Child being their highest at #11

#13 - SLIPKNOT - Wait and Bleed
of course it's an awesome song, 10th anniversary of the album just came out (although I just purchased an earlier edition for much cheaper from a charity shop heh) *****

#12 - yes you knew there was more Metallica coming - For Whom The Bell Tolls
I Like how their going backward in the albums, battery from 86, this from 84 haha, but yes of course awesome ***** way down at #497 on The Rock

#11 - Led Zep - Stairway
not top 10? surprising of course #3 on the rock

top 10 time

#10 - Slipknot - Psychosocial
ahh well, what are you gonna do? it happens on The Rock as well you know, but hey, still a good song ***1/2

FAR TOO HIGH, that and its actually a slight remix of the track they play, still not bad ***1/2

#8 - Ozzy - Crazy Train
more like it, back to the CLASSIC tunes ***** (Way down at 256 On The Rock)

back in 1991, the 19th most played song on KBPI, was RATT - Giving yourself away (never heard of it) however #30 from the year was ENTER SANDMAN hahahaha shows how the times change, time weeds out the horrible music and leaves the good stuff

which obviously means #7 is Metallica - Enter Sandman
absolute classic whats left to say about it? of course when this even gets played on pop stations occasionally as well shows how huge this band is **** at times its been the winner of the rocks, but often does lie just behind "One" this year was #4 on The Rocks list

#6 - Pantera - Cemetary Gates
ahhh YES! heres where I Like this Station much better Than the Rock, they ACTUALLY PLAY PANTERA during the DAYTIME!! absolutely awesome song ***** whereas with The Rock this was The ONLY pantera they had in their countdown this one has a few others (and this was ranked #763 on The Rock)

#5 - Disturbed - Down With The Sickness
ahh your joking now, THIS after Pantera? haha, still a cool song yes, but nowhere near one of the best songs ever, but yes thanks to the listeners for this anyways ***3/4

can't really compare to The Rock 1000 since hey the stations are actually slightly different formats, with BPI actually getting called a Metal station by a lot of people, (although the do play loads of Hard Rock as well obviously) and the Rock being just straight Rock it does fail with the New Songs though but then that is down to the folks who listen to the station who voted so hey no complaints really it always happens

anyways, heres the complete lists for those reading who don't know about The Rock 1000
